Pets and fleas

We love our pets and one of the best ways to keep them happy is to make sure they don’t get fleas!

If you find that your pet does have fleas you will need to use a specified flea treatment and you should contact your vet, they will be able to advise on the best flea product for your pet and answer any questions about the treatment and application. You can usually treat your pet for fleas at home.

Remember that fleas can survive for many months without a host. This is why it is so important to regularly vacuum all your furniture and floors, you should also pay particular attention to the skirting boards and those hard-to-get-to corners where the insects might be hiding.

If you vacuum on a regular basis you should make sure that your pet’s bed is also thoroughly vacuumed each time you clean. This might help you prevent an infestation before it takes hold as regular vacuuming may help remove fleas when they are at each stage of their life cycle.

It is also really important to empty out all the dust from your vacuum cleaner immediately after you use every time, as otherwise you run the risk of reinfecting your home again.

Keep your pets happy and flea free!
