Stinging insects are not only irritating, they can also be extremely dangerous. Not only are the bites from these insects often very painful, but they could also land you in the hospital. And, during the summer, you need to be particularly careful of these insects. This is the season when these pests are most active. Remember, hot weather and heatwaves impact insect activity, so weather you’re in the UK or holidaying in a warm location abroad, this is something to bear in mind. Here are some of the insects you should watch out for.
Be aware of these stinging insects:
1. Wasps
Wasps are a huge issue when it comes to dangerous stinging insects. The main thing to note here is that you should never try to swat or flap at them. This will anger the wasps and they will more than likely attack you. Also, never attempt to remove a nest that is on your property yourself, do not knock the nest down, or hit it, set it on fire, or anything like that. Doing any of this is very risky. In the case of wasps, it’s always best to call in professional wasp control specialists.

2. Bees
Compared to wasps, bees are relatively harmless. The main reason for this is because, unlike wasps, they can only sting once and then they die. That being said, their stings are still painful, so you should still watch out for these insects. Also, it’s best that you avoid killing bees. These insects are actually endangered. If there’s a bee in the area, just sit still and wait for it to leave.
3. Hornets
Hornets are pretty much exactly the same problem as wasps, only bigger. This means you need to be even more careful when dealing with these pests. Under no circumstance should you attempt to remove them if you find a nest. When you hear of people in serious health crises from insect attacks, it’s often because they tried to remove a wasp or hornets‘ nest. All the things you shouldn’t do with a wasp nest goes for hornets nests too.

4. Red Ants
These stinging insects have nasty bite and will attack humans if disturbed. They are often found in grassy areas, so be careful if you’re having a picnic. It’s better to eat at a table instead of on the ground. If you end up sitting on or near a red ants’ nest, you can be stung multiple times, and they can get in your clothes, causing a great deal of distress.
5. Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are an enormous problem during summer. One of the recommended ways to deal with these pests is by turning a fan on at night. It will also help to close your windows while you sleep. What will also help is removing all sources of standing water in your garden. Mosquitoes use these sites to breed, and from there they can enter your home.
